Italy

We took a once in a lifetime trip to Italy in June 2006. We saw all the sights of Rome, Florence, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast in ten days.

The family outside the Colosseum in Rome.

Jud and Lindsey inside the Colesseum.

We had a private tour of The Vatican before it opened to the public. We were in the Sistene Chapel with only a few dozen people and had the rare chance to take pictures. This is the famous roof painted by Michaelangelo.

Viewing the beautiful fountains at Villa d' Este, outside of Rome. It was built in the 15th century as a summer home for the Pope. These fountains don't use any pumps, only gravity.

Overlooking the rooftops of Siena in Tuscany. This is where the name of the color Burnt Siena comes from.

Overlooking the beautiful Tuscany countryside.

Enjoying a great Italian Meal and lots of Chianti in Florence.

The family above Florence.

This is really a door to someone's house. Jud could never live here.

Michaelangelo's David (pondering his fight with Goliath)

At Pompeii (a city covered by volcanic ash 70 years after Christ and only discovered 100 years ago)

The town of Amalfi on the Amalfi coast taken from a boat.

We had lunch on the island of Capri. What a view!

Having drinks overlooking the Mediterrean Sea at our hotel in Amalfi.

View from our hotel, Santa Caterina, at the Amalfi Coast.

Relaxing at the hotel the last night in Rome. WHAT A GREAT TRIP!
